Jeanie Noreen Simon, 72, of Paxico, Kansas formerly of the McFarland area passed away Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Midland Hospice Care, Topeka, Kansas. Jeanie was born on March 24, 1940 in Covina, California the daughter of Virgil and Lula Horton. She grew up in California before moving to the McFarland area in 1988. Jeanie was a homemaker. She married Richard Morway, they later divorced. She then married Gerald Simon. He preceded her in death. Jeanie enjoyed bird watching and gardenining. She took great joy in baking and cooking for family and friends. She also was known to share her love of the Lord and His Word. Jeanie is survived by her children: Jeanie Thomas, Judith Simon, Daniel Thomas, Gale Fiordimondo and her husbannd Barry of Paxico, Tony Morway, John Morway and their sister: Tina Lannan and her husband David all of McFarland; one brother: John Horton of California; grandchildren: Crystie Amaro and Rich, Valeri Osterson and Jason, Ricky Smith and Kim, Joel Morway, Erica Swenson and Jeremy and Andrea Fiordimondo. Jeannie was also blessed with 8 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son: Timothy, three sisters: Ann, June and Anoka and one brother: Ray.
A funeral service for Jeanie will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 8, 2012 at the Stewart Funeral Home, Alma. Burial will follow in the McFarland City Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Pottawatomie County Caring Hearts Humane Society and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 126, Alma, KS, 66401.
